Camp Cookout | Ground Moose Nachos
In this edition, we take you to early fall in the north country, where the crew at Cedar Camp had one thing on their mind: a big ol’ bull moose hittin' the ground.
The only problem was the hunting wasn’t exactly the Saturday night heavyweight bout the boys thought it would be.
Sure, the weather felt like hitting every green light on the way to your first date with the homecoming queen, and fresh signs of wildlife were as abundant as potatoes at a Five Guys. But the moosin’ was slower than molasses in February and getting something to respond was harder than making a 100-yard shot with open sights in a blizzard.
As the saying goes, you can’t teach an old dog new tricks, something the old boys in camp would need to reach way up their sleeves for and show the young lads a thing or two.
New or not, young or old, by the time Thursday rolled around, Jeff and Kenny decided to make a move into the high country, where a well-placed bet and a little bit of luck would pay off. The rest is history, as they say, and there's no need to finish the story.
We have the recipe for ya.
